One-Layer Wednesday 36: Barely There

Ok, here we are, all ready :)

My little guy got sick last week and wasn’t on the mend until Saturday…at which point, yep, you got it, I got sick.

We’re all good now, but the sickies put me a little behind.

I made this card before I got sick and I have to say, I just luuuuuurve it.

The challenge this week is to make a card using a bare tree, or bare vegetation of some kind – that means no leaves, no needles, no buds, no flowers.  You can use as many images/sentiments/colours as you like, but you must use one plant image that is “bare”.

Bare Tree

Bare Tree

1. A one-layer card is defined as a single piece of cardstock folded in half.

2. Make a one-layer card using  at least one “bare plant” image.

3. Please remember to keep embellishments to a minimum.

4. Please share your creation by posting your card online and then using  Inlinkz below to link to it.

5. Please make sure you are linking directly to the relevant post – not just to your blog.
Some of you have been linking to your blog and not the relevant post; please make sure
you’ve got the link right.  If you need help with this, please email me :)

6. Most important of all…HAVE FUN!

7. If I have confused you, please feel free to leave a comment telling me so, or email me for clarification :)

You have until next Tuesday at 11:59 pm EDT to submit your creations.

OLW36

Due to an invasion of the gastro, OLW36 will be posted later than usual.

Please come back Wednesday night to play along with OLW36.

Sorry for the delay.

OLW35: Yellow

Happy New Year everyone!

So nice to get settled back into a routine and play along with other people’s challenges again.

I smiled when I saw Susan‘s challenge because I had been playing around with the colour yellow.  It’s that time of year for a lot of us who have cold and snowy winters – time to think of happy spring-y and summer-y colours.

I was quite pleased with myself when I finished this card, but I couldn’t help thinking that it looked a little familiar.  And with good reason.  Turns out it’s a CASE… of one of my own cards.  At least I’m consistent :)

Thank You

One-Layer Wednesday: Boot Camp!

Hello, hello!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are rested and rarin’ to go.

I’ve had so little time in my craft room over the last month and I was thrilled to finally get some time to stamp.

I was however, out of practice and more than just a little full of cookies and chocolate.  It took me a while to get back into the groove.

So.  The challenge.  A toughie (I think).

Make a card using ONLY ONE image stamp and a maximum of two ink colours.  You may use the same image repeatedly, but you may only use the one image.  You may also use one sentiment stamp if you choose.  Oh, and no embellishments.  None.  Nada.

I know sometimes some of you feel the challenge is too hard.  I often push myself to do challenges that really stump me.  I feel that it
really helps me grow as a stamper and a card-maker.  I have learned so much from doing challenges even when I haven’t been happy with how my cards turned out.  So, even if you feel it’s too hard, give it a go, you just might surprise yourself!

You make me smile

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I do love our Charlie Brown Christmas trees :)

A very Merry Christmas from our house to yours!

OLW Break

Hello, hello :)

One Layer Wednesday will return next week – Wednesday, December 29.

I WILL comment on the entries for OLW32 before I post the next challenge.

Also, winners from OLW30, I have not forgotten you.  I just move slowly :)

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and/or an enjoyable Saturday.

One-Layer Wednesday 32: Ages and Ages

Note to Tiya-B: you need to read this post :)

I can haz the birthday party and Christmas preparation panics?

I has the challenge but I does not haz the card.

The challenge this week is to make a one layer age card (Happy 50th, Happy Sweet 16 etc.).  Any age is fine as long as it’s one layer and uses minimal embellishments.

I should have my card posted by tomorrow night.  In the meantime, please enjoy this picture of me on my honeymoon with a sheep.
Er, let me rephrase that, a picture of me with a sheep while on my honeymoon.  That is to say, I was on my honeymoon with my husband and this is a picture of me with a sheep.

Sheep!

Sheep!

And belatedly, here’s my card:

Book Giveaway – 25 BOOKS FOR THE 25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Why am I posting this?  We-ll…the author of the first book on the list if you go here is the daughter of one of my CEGEP professors (that’s college to most of you – sort of).

Anyway, this popped up on my Facebook feed and since I already have my eye on Catherine McKenzie‘s first book,  Spin, I had to enter.

I wouldn’t kick the other books out of bed for keeping me up till all hours either :)

So, go on, have a look and enter!
