OLW71: Tag – You’re It!

Good morning pumpkins :)

Hope you all had a fun Halloween!

This week’s OLW challenge is to make a tag…or two…or three.

Tags

Tags

These were so easy-peasy, lemon squeezy!

I used:

Manilla tags: Staples
Background stamps: Hero Arts, Stampendous
Other stamps: Hero Arts, SU!
Ink: Memento, SU!
Twine: unknown

So, let’s see some tags!

A note about commenting.  As you have probably noted, I have been remiss in my commenting.
So, in order to not feel like a failure in this regard, I am simply going to lower your expectations 😉

Each week, I will feature five cards on the blog from among the entries and comment on them here.
I will still look at all your cards, but will only comment on the five that are featured here.

OLW69 – Stripes

Good morning peeps.

It’s been a house full of sickies these last two weeks and now it’s my turn.  Boo!  So, this is late and hurried.

The theme for this week’s OLW is stripes.  Yep, just that, stripes.

Make a one-layer card incorporating stripes in some way.  I will make my card once I stop coughing enough to hold a stamp steady :)

OLW69

OLW69

Okies, I made one :)

Card stock: water colour paper
Colour medium: Caran d’Ache watercolour crayons
Ink: Tsukineko silver
Stamp: SU!

I stuck a Spellbinders square die on the front of my card, drew some stripes in blues and greens inside the square then
gently ran a wet foam brush over the crayon stripes. When it was dry I stamped the fuzzy striped background with a SU! botanical stamp using silver ink.

OLW67: Thoughtsgiving

Hello ladies,

October 2nd was the two year anniversary of my dad’s death from prostate cancer. October 4th was the one year anniversary of a young friend’s death from a different kind of cancer.

Two women (that I know of) from our wonderful stamping and papercrafting community are also fighting their own battles with this despicable disease: Katie Renz and frequent OLW participant, Janelle.

This week, the challenge is to make and send/deliver a “Thinking of You” card to someone who is struggling with any kind of battle. I would also like all participants to make a five dollar (or more!) donation to the cancer research/cause of their choice.

You can donate to Katie’s family by going here.

My husband Mark is participating in Movember this year in Memory of Jack Layton (a well-respected and well-loved Canadian politician who died of cancer in August).  Should you wish to sponsor Mark, you can do so by going here.

The above are only two possibilities.  You can choose ANY cancer research/cause you like.
When you’ve posted your card, please leave a comment letting me know me know where you made your donation.

Finally, you give, I give. I will randomly pick one person who has made a donation and send them a few goodies.

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner!

Hey there chickies!

I bet you are all wondering who is the lucky winner of Krystie Lee‘s A Muse Studio goodies!

Well, wonder no more!

The winner is [insert drumroll here]…Carol B (#34) of The Inky Daisy.

Congratulations Carol and thank you so much Krystie for your most generous prize!

Carol, please email (jennifer[at]stylesink[dot]ca) me your details so I can pass them on to Krystie.

Thank you all for playing along and submitting such lovely cards!

OLW65: Sentiment-a-mania

Howdy boys and girls! (Well, ok, probably just girls.  Women in fact.)

Sorry I’m late.  I’m having a terrible time getting a decent picture of my card.  I’m posting what I have and will try to get a better picture later.

Usually when I make a card, the image is the main focus and if I add a sentiment at all it’s very small and simple.  I do have several sets where the sentiments are larger and wordier but I hardly ever use them.  It’s time I gave them a little more love.

So, the challenge this week is to make a card where the sentiment is either the focus of the card or shares the focus equally with the image.

OLW64 – Color It (or Colour It)

I am not quite back into the swing of things here on the ol’ blog.  I’m still getting used to a) getting up at stupid o’clock to get the spawn off to school and b) having one of those job thingies (ptooey).

Anyway, here is my card for Susan‘s OLW64.

OLW – Hiatus

Greetings all.

As you may have noticed, I have been a bad, bad, bad, terrible no good host this summer.

I am behind on my commenting and I haven’t even been able to get into my craft room since we got back from holiday.

Susan has been sidelined with a bum elbow and she will soon be off on a lovely holiday.

Apparently summer is a busy time :)

So, OLW will be on hiatus until September 7th at which time we will return with a lovely surprise!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer!

See you in September :)

OLW: Clouds

Well hello there bunnies!

We have returned from an absolutely lovely holiday.  I have to thank  Susan for covering my turns and doing the commenting.  Does she rock or what?!

While on holiday, I had the great pleasure to meet up with a cardmaking celebrity and her cutie-pie son.  We had a nice morning at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire followed by a lovely lunch at a local restaurant.  I may have touched her (although not inappropriately) in the hope of having some of her awesome talent rub off on me.

Also, while on holiday, I received my yummy and delicious A Muse Studio order through the absolutely lovely and spectacularly talented, Krystie Lee.

Speaking of Krystie, we have a couple of nice surprises coming up for you before summer is over.

And finally, this week’s OLW challenge.  I jokingly asked my five year old son for a suggestion for this week’s theme.

He suggested, flowers, trees, clouds.  These are things I usually ask him to draw when he is making a picture for his great-grandmother.  I thought about it for a minute and thought, hey!  Yes!  Clouds.  The theme will be clouds!
