OLW77: Happy Birdie!

Well, hello there bunnies!

I am finally back in the swing of things and am ready to do host a OLW!  Thanks so much to Susan for doing all of January – doesn’t she just totally rock?

It was my friend Allison’s birthday yesterday and she has a thing for birds.  And owls.  And bunnies.  And a variety of other feathered and furry things, but I decided to just go with bird.

So, this week, the challenge is to make a one-layer BIRTHDAY card incorporating a bird (or birds).

One-Layer…aieeeeeee!

Oh my goodness, real life intrudes again.  Sadly, I will not be able to do OLW this week.

I do hope to at least tidy up some loose odds and ends by next Wednesday.

Hang in there :)

OLW71: Tag – You’re It!

Good morning pumpkins :)

Hope you all had a fun Halloween!

This week’s OLW challenge is to make a tag…or two…or three.

These were so easy-peasy, lemon squeezy!

I used:

Manilla tags: Staples
Background stamps: Hero Arts, Stampendous
Other stamps: Hero Arts, SU!
Ink: Memento, SU!
Twine: unknown

So, let’s see some tags!

A note about commenting.  As you have probably noted, I have been remiss in my commenting.
So, in order to not feel like a failure in this regard, I am simply going to lower your expectations ;)

Each week, I will feature five cards on the blog from among the entries and comment on them here.
I will still look at all your cards, but will only comment on the five that are featured here.

OLW69 – Stripes

Good morning peeps.

It’s been a house full of sickies these last two weeks and now it’s my turn.  Boo!  So, this is late and hurried.

The theme for this week’s OLW is stripes.  Yep, just that, stripes.

Make a one-layer card incorporating stripes in some way.  I will make my card once I stop coughing enough to hold a stamp steady :)

Okies, I made one :)

Card stock: water colour paper
Colour medium: Caran d’Ache watercolour crayons
Ink: Tsukineko silver
Stamp: SU!

I stuck a Spellbinders square die on the front of my card, drew some stripes in blues and greens inside the square then
gently ran a wet foam brush over the crayon stripes. When it was dry I stamped the fuzzy striped background with a SU! botanical stamp using silver ink.

OLW67: Thoughtsgiving

Hello ladies,

October 2nd was the two year anniversary of my dad’s death from prostate cancer. October 4th was the one year anniversary of a young friend’s death from a different kind of cancer.

Two women (that I know of) from our wonderful stamping and papercrafting community are also fighting their own battles with this despicable disease: Katie Renz and frequent OLW participant, Janelle.

This week, the challenge is to make and send/deliver a “Thinking of You” card to someone who is struggling with any kind of battle. I would also like all participants to make a five dollar (or more!) donation to the cancer research/cause of their choice.

You can donate to Katie’s family by going here.

My husband Mark is participating in Movember this year in Memory of Jack Layton (a well-respected and well-loved Canadian politician who died of cancer in August).  Should you wish to sponsor Mark, you can do so by going here.

The above are only two possibilities.  You can choose ANY cancer research/cause you like.
When you’ve posted your card, please leave a comment letting me know me know where you made your donation.

Finally, you give, I give. I will randomly pick one person who has made a donation and send them a few goodies.

Oh, oh, oh.  Another last thing (heh).  There are three winners of stamps from wayyyyy back who have yet to receive their stamps.  I’m sorry.  I suck.  I WILL send them shortly.  For realz!
