OLW87 – Think Outside the Box

Well howdy there chickens!

Things are continuing to be a little nutso around here, so I am doing a bad thing. I am recycling a previous project for this challenge.

The challenge this week is to make a shaped card. Anything but a square or a rectangle. You may cheat just the teenciest bit for this challenge but only if you need to glue two pieces of card stock together to make your card – no layers allowed.

This is really a one layer card – clever masking and inking makes it look as though it’s not.

1. A one-layer card is defined as a single piece of cardstock folded in half. (Or, in this case, two pieces of card stock glue together.)

2. Make a one-layer card that is NOT a square or a rectangle.

3. Please share your creation by posting your card online and then using Inlinkz below to link to it.

4. Please make sure you are linking directly to the relevant post – not just to your blog.

5. Most important of all…HAVE FUN!

OLW85

So grateful to Susan for posting a challenge. The combination of working two different jobs, having a six year old and being visited by the plague fairy more than is usual has really kicked my butt. Oh, and my laptop melted. Really.

Happily, I’ll be cutting back on my work hours and I’ve ordered a big plastic bubble (from Amazon – they have EVERYTHING) that we can live in germ free from now on. (Hee.) We will be back in full swing at the beginning of May.

The boy and I managed a few minutes in the craft room (I was lucky I remembered where it was).

So, here are our cards for Susan’s OLW85

The boy’s card:

Aidan used stamps by Hero Arts, A Muse and Inkadinkadoo and coloured everything using Prisma pencils.

My card:

I used PTI white card stock, a Hero Arts stamp, Night of Navy ink from SU! and it’s not totally obvious, but I used lots of Martha Stewart white glitter.

OLW83 – An Inspiration Challenge

Oh my kittens, so sorry for being so tardy.

It’s taking me a very long while to adjust to working again, being hit by The Plague didn’t help either.

So. The Challenge. It was my birthday on Thursday and my adorable little boy showered me with “presents” and cards. This week the challenge is to make a one-layer card inspired by one of his gifts or cards.

This first picture is not actually related to my birthday, but it’s too cute not too post.While I was at work a few weeks ago he snuck into my craft room and raided my stash. Kinda hard to be mad about it, eh?

The card says, “Mum is cool i love you”. Love how he filled in the missing “u” with a handwritten letter.

A blue block from his block collection (because my favourite colour is blue).

A handmade XKCD fan. (Yes, we ARE a house full of nerds.)

A couple of birthday notes – sweet and um…odd?

So, the challenge this week is to make a one-layer birthday card inspired by one, some, or all of the following:

Letters, a rainbow, a car, a blue square, a fan, a sweet message, a silly message.

Use your imagination and have some fun!

Hey kiddles,

OLW will be a little late – should have it up late tomorrow. We got hit pretty hard with The Plague and are only now returning to our usual pink glowing selves.

I am not forgetting the favourite fives, I hope to have those up for the last three challenges by Sunday night.

I am a little behind here, but I will throw out this week’s challenge now and post my card and the five “cards of the week” by tonight.

The challenge this week is to make a one-layer card using as many different stamps as you can. You must use at least three; more is better!

Well, hello there bunnies!

I am finally back in the swing of things and am ready to do host a OLW! Thanks so much to Susan for doing all of January – doesn’t she just totally rock?

It was my friend Allison’s birthday yesterday and she has a thing for birds. And owls. And bunnies. And a variety of other feathered and furry things, but I decided to just go with bird.

So, this week, the challenge is to make a one-layer BIRTHDAY card incorporating a bird (or birds).
